Our journey

The Victorian Heart Hospital will be Australia’s first dedicated heart hospital and is nearing its final stages of construction. It will include a full range of ambulatory and inpatient cardiac care, including cardiac theatres, cardiac catheterisation laboratories and ambulatory services such as cardiac CT, echocardiography and specialist consultation. It will also feature a unique, patient centred model of care. The Victorian Heart Hospital will also play a key role in advancing research and teaching and will be home to the Victorian Heart Institute, a brand new, health and medical research organisation at Monash University.

This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding clinical services professional to join our Support Services team to support the Victorian Heart Hospital establish and embed strong governance processes in a full time, permanent role. The role reports to the Director Support Services Monash Health.

A day in the life

In this important role, you will be an essential member of our leadership team responsible for leading our Support Services in our pursuit to provide exceptional patient and employee experiences.Working with team members at all levels, the Support Services Manager is accountable for service improvements, and is responsible for the budget, employee management and overall program performance.

The Support Services Manager reports into Monash Health’s Director Support Services and is supported by a broader team of People and Culture & Finance business partners, as well as the team of Fellow Support Services Managers across multiples sites.

This is a full-time ongoing role, working predominantly conventional business operating hours Monday to Friday.

Other key responsibilities include:
Commissioning and preparing the Victorian Heart Hospital for operational readiness

Recruitment of your own teams

Driving service excellence to our patients and internal stakeholders

Development and implementation of best practice service delivery models, professional standards and legislative requirements

Development, implementation and compliance monitoring of operational policies and procedures

Management of service delivery compliance with all relevant standards

Development of learning and continuous quality improvement culture

Delivery of safe and quality service outcomes

What you bring

Working closely with the Victorian Heart Hospital and Monash Health Support Services teams you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience and knowledge:

Relevant postgraduate qualifications in Business or Health Management

Membership of Institute of Hospitality in Healthcare Ltd, Institute of Hospital Engineers, Association of Hospital Supply Purchasing Officers, or like organisation is desirable

The ideal candidate will be well experienced in Support Services management with a high level of strategic capability and evidence of taking a strong people focus to instil rigor and best practice across all processes.The candidate will possess most, if not all the following experience, skills and personal qualities:

Experience in the organisation and management of Support Services along with demonstrated record of achievement in these areas and exceptional customer services

Proven track record and extensive experience within a large complex organization

Demonstrated record of achievement in project management with specific experience in the integration of Support Services and capital works

Strong leadership skills including strategic thinking, analytical, organisational and planning capabilities

Ability to establish and build constructive working relationships at all levels

Ability to lead, motivate, inspire and develop team members to achieve strategic objectives

Demonstrated success in working with the leadership team to drive a culture which values teamwork, accountability and people development

Knowledge of all relevant legislative requirements

Proven understanding of financial management and development of cost saving strategies.

Highly developed written and verbal skills with the demonstrated ability to be able to effectively influence negotiate and consult with a range of stakeholders.

Capacity to be an effective member of the Support Services team, stimulate constructive debate and support colleagues in the achievement of organisational values and objectives

Experience in the coordination and facilitation of National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards

Ability to diagnose, resolve, document and evaluate Support Services issues in an amicable manner

Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and problem solve
