Purpose of the role:
In RSSL we are customer focused, science led and results driven. The RSSL Pharma Development laboratory performs a wide range of analyses for a variety of food, pharmaceutical and healthcare companies and supports Mondelez research and innovation.
The role of HPLC Method Developer is a technical role within the pharmaceutical development laboratory and is key to ensuring that delegated projects are carried out effectively and that customers requirements and contractual agreements are met.
The job holder will be required to execute analytical projects predominantly involving HPLC method development and validation of stability indicating methods for API and a wide variety of formulated product matrices for assay and related substance determination. However, there will also be a wider aspect to the role including activities such as accelerated stability, release testing, and the use of other appropriate analytical techniques (e.g. dissolution, KF, FT-IR etc).
The role requires the individual to work reasonably independently during the method development, and expected to write scientific protocols and reports to a high technical standard. As an innovative and self-motivated scientist, you will have the opportunity to directly influence projects and interact with customers in cross-functional project meetings. You may be expected to review technical work and provide training to less experienced team members.
The RSSL pharmaceutical laboratory is a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, so you will need to have good judgement and awareness to be able to recognise and solve problems
Perform a range of analysis using techniques such as HPLC, Dissolutions independently.
Perform complex method development and design validation protocols
Provide Technical direction within own area of expertise within the team.
Perform data checking and provide interpretation of results for routine testing.
Generate certificate analysis or external interpretive reports.
Proficient in the use of generic and specific software packages require for the role: Laboratory’s LIMS system, Q-Pulse.
Take responsibility for elements of specific projects and/or specific areas of general laboratory/sample administration and assign housekeeping tasks as required.
To liaise with clients, business development and line management to ensure effective communication of project proposals and results.
Deliver internal presentations across groups and to technical stakeholders
Work to the highest standards of safety and quality by ensuring that appropriate COSHHs, risk assessments and SOPs are understood and followed.
Write SOPs and Test Methods.
Generation of Risk Assessments and COSHH.
Education and Experience:
Educated to Degree or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline or equivalent relevant experience in a laboratory required.
Excellent understanding of basic/analytical lab equipment required.
Scientific understanding and ability to independently conduct chemical analysis in relevant area required.
Good knowledge of laboratory quality and accreditation systems (GMP/UKAS) required.
Flexible and adaptable to meet customer/business requirements. Well organised and capable of working on multiple activities concurrently.
Computer literate in standard MS office applications required
Ability to deliver projects/work within tight timescales and ability to motivate and mentor junior scientific staff required.
Technical credibility to develop good working relationships with internal and external clients required
Extensive pharma method development, Validations and method transfers required.
Experience of working for or with a CRO preferred
Analytical Project management preferred
English fluency (written and spoken) required.
