What you’ll be doing

The CCLHD Drug and Alcohol Youth Program provides a multifaceted range of services to young people (and their partners, families and carers) whose physical and or mental health and personal and social functioning is at risk due to substance use.

This position will provide evidence based drug and alcohol treatment services including psychosocial assessments and interventions to young people accessing the CCLHD Drug & Alcohol Service.

This role is suitable for the following:
Occupational Therapist Level 3

Psychologist

Clinical Midwife Specialist Grade 2

Clinical Nurse Specialist Grade 2

Clinical Psychologist

Social Worker Level 3

Senior Psychologist

Selection Criteria

Tertiary qualifications, relevant professional registration and relevant clinical experience in a drug and alcohol treatment setting; Social Work- minimum Bachelor Degree and eligibility for membership of AASW or Psychologist – a four year degree in psychology, 3 years with 4th year honours or qualifications deemed equivalent by the employer with demonstrated ability to work at a senior level, or Clinical Psychologist – fully registered psychologist with a Masters degree or higher in Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology or some other recognised clinical area in psychology that the employer deems relevant to the functions of this position. The postgraduate qualifications must be of no less than two years full time duration (or part-time equivalent) and include professional clinical coursework, clinical training and supervised placement experience as core components.

Advanced understanding of adolescent and adult psycho-social issues and treatment options related to substance use disorders.

Significant demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic interventions with clients experiencing substance use and mental health problems or disorders across the lifespan.

Demonstrated advanced ability to analyse problems, set priorities, apply a range of options to develop solutions and demonstrated experience in leading, conducting and evaluating significant quality activities.

Demonstrated commitment to professional development, evidence based practice and continuous improvement, preferably in substance use disorders and experience in the supervision of Social Work Staff (for Social Work applicants).

Demonstrated high level of effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills including the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences and the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels.

Demonstrated understanding of how the District is Caring for the Coast and how this role would contribute.
